Senior Corrosion / Metallurgy Engineer
- Must have worked as a lead Engineer or Specialist with Engineering Contractors / Consultant during FEED / EPC Phase of major refinery / gas processing projects
- Fully conversant with industry standards and practices to be used in material selection and corrosion control and monitoring. Further familiarity of materials performance & corrosion aspects involved for harsh environment in Middle East is essential.
- Proof of participation with contribution on audits performed on FEED Engineer/EPC contractor on major oil & gas projects shall be added qualification to this position
Qualification & Experience:
- Shall be graduate engineer in Mechanical/Electrical/Metallurgical/Chemical engineering from a recognized institute.
- Shall have a minimum of 10 years experience in internal and external corrosion control of plant and piping facilities in the Oil & Gas industry. NACE Senior Corrosion
- Technologist certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Shall have complete knowledge of corrosion control relevant codes and standards including NACE, API, ASTM and other relevant codes.
- Shall be knowledgeable in corrosively calculations (CO2/H2S corrosion modelling), CUI/CL-SCC, HIC/SOHIC/SSC and review of other cracking mechanisms, Chemical cleaning, and having knowledge of international codes like API 510, API 570, API 580, API 581, API 571, ISO 15156 and NORSOK-M506, shall have extensive Materials Selection experience as per ISO15156 and NACE MR0175 for metallic material to be used in the process, pipelines, and utility systems, tubular inspections, catholic protection and corrosion monitoring and assessments at different project.
- Knowledge of welding procedure guidelines, approval of weld procedure specifications, assessment of heat treatment and NDT related activities with respect to their conformance to ASME / API / NACE codes.
- Knowledge of material behave in cold services (craiganic).
- Be able to monitor the charpy test for sub zero application
- Experience in Catholic protection system design and monitoring coatings/linings and corrosion under insulation.
- Experience in coating/lining selection, specification and performance measurement.
- Knowledge in corrosion under insulation detection and mitigation.
Main Responsibilities:
- To ensure mechanical integrity of all static equipments like (vessels/columns/heat exchangers/air coolers/storage tanks/PSVs etc) through the development and implementation of appropriate corrosion prevention philosophy, techniques and programs.
- Reviewing of project documents related to design & engineering, material selection, material fabrication, internal corrosion monitoring schemes, fluid sampling locations, and corrosion chemical inhibitors requirements. Understanding of the full range of equipment and techniques such as welding & painting/ coating and their proper application to measure the internal carrion rates.
- Have knowledge of other method used to prevent against the internal corrosion such as linings and claddings.
- Selecting coating/linings for various services. Manage project activities including status reports and recommendations for corrective actions where warranted. Develop key performance indicators to monitor technical performance of the coatings and catholic protection program. Independently prepare reports and presentations to clients as required.
- Coordinate activities with PM team members to ensure an integrated approach for corrosion management.
- Develop and/or update procedures and practices for external corrosion management programs.
- Contribute to the maintenance of Getting HSE Right (GHSER) and regulatory compliance programs.
- Utilize the appropriate Codes, Standards, and Regulations that influence the assigned work.
- Ability to work well in a multi-discipline / multi-culture teams and network between groups.
