Instrumentation Designer Job: Immediate Need!!
Large Construction and Engineering firm located in Tallahassee, Florida is actively searching for an Instrument Designer with Process Control Design experience for PLC and DCS systems.
Responsibilities:
- Process Control Design for PLC and DCS Systems
- Develop project scopes for construction estimates and design effort hours estimates
- Specify and Purchase instrumentation per plant standards
- Design and produce P&I Drawings of mill systems
- Performs audits of combustion safety systems
- Performs hands-on design and preparation of drawings using CAD software
- Update and report project schedules on regular basis
- Provide technical information to construction, client engineering, and operating modules
- Maintain open communication with construction, client engineering, and operating modules
Requirements:
- Between five and ten years total experience in Instrument Design preferably in Pulp and Paper Industry
- Experience with PLC and DCS systems (Modicon and Honeywell preferred)
- Completions of technical or engineering program in Instrument Design would be a plus, i.e. Autodesk Combustion
- Experience using Microstation or AutoCad software programs for production of drawings
- Experience using Microsoft family of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)

Duties:
SENIOR DESIGNER I Plans and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of design on a project. Knows applicable industry standards and codes, accepted design practices and quality standards for a global business unit. Participates in the operation of a small size design group in a particular discipline. Assists in the preparation of plans and coordinates the assigned work to meet the project schedules. Requires a basic knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, 2-D and 3-D CAD, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline. Project Hire status applies to the Watts Bar Unit 2 Completion Project only and no guarantee of continuous employment through project duration is implied. Develops complete engineering designs and/or drawings from information provided verbally, on sketches, drawing mark ups, or on notes. Checks efforts of other drafters. Monitors all work for compliance to project standards, applicable codes, contract requirements, quality standards, discipline standards, and accepted engineering and construction practices. Coordinate drafting/design activities, i.e. input, interference reconciliation, etc. with other physical related discipline supervisors. Travel as required to jobsite, vendor facilities, client and other Bechtel offices as required. Participate in on-the-job training programs. Ensures that engineering drawings/designs performed are consistent with project technical and administrative requirements, scope, and the project standards. Coordinates with vendors, construction and other subcontractors. Basic Qualifications: Gr. 25, 11-14 years of design/drafting experience on power or industrial projects. Gr. 26, 15-20 years of design/drafting experience on power or industrial projects. Must have the right to work and remain in the USA. Proficient with AutoCad 2D. Experience in AutoCad Raster Design. Knowledge of industry standards, design criteria, and relative codes. Experience in generating / checking design drawings across disciplines. College level courses or additional 2 years equivalent experience in Mechanical or other discipline Design/Drafting. Preferred Requirements: Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication in English. Previous experience on TVA Projects with TVA, knowledge of TVA drawing systems. 4 positions available.

Duties:
The position is an exciting one. The qualified candidate will spend around 2/3 of his/her time working on special orders from customers; this will include Autocad modeling and performing stress calculations using FEA tools. The rest of the of time will be working primarily on product development projects with a small amount of time spent on providing sales support. Travel should be no more than 10%.
Qualifications:
- BS degree Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience that includes extensive Autocad Mechanical and stress calculation (e.g. FEA tools) knowledge & experience.
- Extensive experience with power-trains/motor-drives.
- Ability to interact and communicate clearly to customers.
- Experience with overhead cranes and/or gantries is a major plus.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
Salary:
Pay is up to 75k per year with an excellent benefits package and the company will provide relocation assistance for the right candidate.
