Job Description:
Mechanical Designer/Drafter
Direct Hire/Perm

We are currently looking for a hands-on designer to create and modifie detailed drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (AutoCAD and Solidworks) from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineering staff.
This is a mid-level design role that will be responsible for the following:
- Contributing design modifications to facilitate improvements to manufacturing operations or quality of product.
- Checking drawing plots versus the project input for correctness and conformation to standards and works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and documentation.
- Developing and applies CAD software engineering methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems.
- Assessing architecture and hardware limitations, and plans the design and development of technical projects in CAD software.
- Defining and selecting new approaches in the implementation of CAD engineering applications and design specifications and parameters and develops routines and utility programs.
- Preparing design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval, specifies materials, equipment and supplies required for completion of projects, and evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.
Education/Experience Required:
- Must have hands on design experience with BOTH, Solidworks and AutoCAD.
- Minimum of an Associate of Science degree in engineering or related field. Bachelors degree is preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of three to five years machine design and development experience in small part, high speed manufacturing systems.
- Must have extensive background in machine shop capabilities and electronic devices and controls and extensive knowledge and experience in CAD, AutoCAD and Solidworks.
- Thorough understanding of plastic and metallic part assembly, bowl feeders, product handling, part transfer and fixturing, process tooling, pneumatics, lead screws, cam devices, stepper/servo motors, drive systems, slide systems, sensor technologies and application, and machine control systems required.
- Must be PC literate in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project.

Specific Requirements:
- Metal working/fabrication experience.
- Experience with gauge and fixture design, CNC programming and various manufacturing processes.
- Generate designs and detail drawings for: gauges, fixtures, replacement parts, equipment modifications, etc.
- Create CNC programs for wire EDM’s and CNC machining centers.

A major upstream oilfield service company located in Houston, TX is actively searching for a Designer with Expedition PCB software experience to create drawings for printed circuit boards for down hole tools. This position offers no relocation. r
Responsibilities:
- Prepare conceptual drawings and layouts for printed circuit boards for down hole drilling tools using Expedition PCB software and AutoCAD
- Utilize CAD System to prepare printed circuit board (PCB) documentation (e.g., schematic diagrams, layouts, assembly drawings and Bills of Material)
- Design, develop and document printed circuit board layout
- Under limited supervision completing projects on time and with accuracy
- Work closely with engineers and technicians to insure optimal component placement as well as meeting any specific routing requirements
- Create documentation for the manufacture and fabrication of PCBs following PCB Department standards
- Work overtime hours (as necessary) to achieve critical project deadlines
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 + years of experience with Mentor Expedition / Design Capture (you will be tested)
